Description:

This course will provide a background about the rule of law in an international development context. It will define the contemporary meaning of the rule of law and discuss its practical application in international development contexts—including actors that promote and implement the rule of and the challenges, obstacles and critiques of an assumed unified theory of socio-political governance.

This program examines what the rule of law is; what it means in a post conflict development context; the institutional actions to reform and establish rule of law; and, the challenges and obstacles to establish or reform the rule of law in a post conflict / development context.
